(Senior) Learning Systems Administrator*

The mission of Software AG’s Product Enablement team is to share knowledge with learners that results in successful business or job performance outcomes for our customers, partners and employees. 

As part of a forward-looking Product Enablement team, the Technical Learning Experience Lead* will be an integral part of the team, working closely with the Learning Systems Administrator*, stakeholders and other members of the Product Enablement team. This role will design solutions that drive learners to engage and consume critical knowledge required for success. 

The Technical Learning Experience Lead* is primarily responsible for designing, implementing and managing the technology stack of the Product Enablement team. This includes the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning platforms, including integrations, web design, user apps, workflow and business intelligence. 

Serving as the Learner Experience Team’s Technical Lead*, the ideal candidate needs to be a big picture thinker, with the ability to think out of the box, bring creative solutions to the table, always keeping the needs of the learner as the focal point. 

The primary systems you will support include but are not limited to Totara Learn/Engage (LMS/LXP), Microsoft 365, PowerBI and third-party APIs like Credly, Allego and ProctorU. In addition, you will be responsible for building integration points and the visualization of key data through dashboards and reporting.

Ideally, you have worked in a learning environment in the past or are looking to take your technical expertise as an architect or developer and repurpose your skills in support of the ever-changing, dynamic world of adult learning.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Using Totara framework and PHP, provide hands-on software engineering for entire life cycle of development including:
    • Software analysis
    • System architecture
    • Design
    • Software development
    • This also includes system maintenance, upgrades, testing, debugging code, migrations and integrations; leverage multiple data sources to build reports and dashboards
  • Work directly with LMS Development Partner to ensure technical and functional requirements are understood and met
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues

  • Must be organized and work well both independently and in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity of Microsoft 365 (i.e., Microsoft Flow, Power Aps, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams etc.)
  • Language skills and standards: HTML, PHP, LTI, SCORM, Integration (APIs), SSO
  • Platform skills: LMS/LxP (Totara/Moodle), CMS, LTI, Communication (SharePoint), LRS, xAPI, integration, sales enablement (Allego)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and developing web, mobile applications and user interface customization
  • Familiarity with development for mobile deployment (tablets, smart phones etc.)
  • A self-starter that is able to multi-task, work under minimal supervision and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to comprehend/interpret technical and non-technical information and apply it to application development
  • Good interpersonal, communications and consulting skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or similar discipline with minimum 3 years’ work experience in relevant field
  • Highly motivated with 3+ years’ Moodle/Totara experience (or similar framework)
  • Development of usable software components configured to meet Stakeholder requirements
  • Understanding of security practices
  • Experience in working with international and intercultural teams, a plus
  • Previous experience working in a learning environment, a plus
